Getting started
How do I book my first appointment?
Book online through the booking form — choose your service, the number of bedrooms and bathrooms, and a date and time that works for you. Your price is calculated as you go, so you see it before you confirm. If anything gives you trouble, call or text us on (571) 341-7296 and we will book it for you.
Do you service my area?
Our rule of thumb is 15 miles from Tysons Corner Mall. That covers McLean, Tysons, Great Falls, Vienna, Falls Church, Fairfax, Reston, Arlington and Alexandria — and if you are just outside those, ask: we can often make it work.
How should I get my home ready?
A few minutes of tidying makes a real difference to the result. Put away loose items — clothing, toys, magazines, mail and electronics. Clear everyday items off the bathroom vanities so surfaces can be cleaned without moving each one. Wash and put away dishes so the cleaning time goes on your kitchen rather than your sink. If you want beds changed, leave a clean set of linens out on each bed. And find a safe spot for pets to be while we work. Beyond that there is no need to clean before we arrive. If these are not done, we may need to charge for the extra time.
What time will you arrive?
We always do our best to arrive on time, but we ask you to allow a one-hour arrival window to account for traffic, parking and the other surprises of Northern Virginia roads.
Can I request special tasks or extras?
Yes. Reply to your confirmation email or log into your account and add a comment with anything you would like applied to your service. Add-ons such as the inside of the oven or refrigerator can also be selected directly on the booking form.
What's included
What is included in a standard cleaning?
A standard clean covers everything involved in cleaning a home or apartment: floors vacuumed and cleaned, bathrooms, the kitchen, living areas and dusting throughout. We will load the dishwasher, but we do not hand-wash dishes, for liability reasons. Extras such as the inside of the refrigerator or oven can be added when you book. We do not clean walls, carpets, utility closets or hard-to-reach areas, but we can clean doors, the inside of cabinets and interior windows at additional cost.
What is a first-time clean, and do I need one?
The first-time clean removes accumulated dust and dirt from the areas a routine clean passes over, by spending significantly more time and attention on them. It brings your home to a baseline before regular maintenance cleaning takes over. If your home has not been professionally cleaned in the last 30 days, it is the right starting point.
What does a first-time clean include that a standard clean does not?
Your cleaner works through the standard checklist and then dedicates extra time to the harder areas, following a detailed first-visit list. That includes polishing metal surfaces and fixtures, wiping baseboards properly rather than dusting them, and working through build-up in the kitchen and bathrooms that a standard visit does not have time to reach.
Do you bring your own cleaning supplies and equipment?
Yes. We bring our own green, eco-friendly cleaning products and all the equipment needed, at no extra cost. They handle the toughest household jobs while staying gentle on your surfaces, your family and the environment. If you would rather we used your own products, leave them out and let us know. If you have a specific request, tell us and we will accommodate it where we can.
Is there anything your cleaners cannot do?
For liability and safety reasons there are four things our teams cannot do. They cannot climb ladders or reach areas above roughly six feet. They cannot move large appliances, though they will happily clean around and underneath them if you move them first. Interior windows must be reachable from a two- or three-step ladder. And window screens need to be removed by you beforehand, as our cleaners cannot detach or refit them.
What is included in a move in or move out cleaning?
A thorough clean of the empty home, including inside the refrigerator, inside the oven and inside the cupboards — the three things charged as extras on an occupied home, included here as standard. For a move-out we recommend inviting your landlord to the final walk-through, and you are welcome to send us their cleaning checklist ahead of the appointment so we can work to it.
Trust & safety
Do your cleaners go through a background check?
Yes. Every applicant goes through a detailed nationwide criminal background check as the final step of our pre-screening process, along with an in-person interview and training. We hire roughly the top 10% of people who apply, and we will not send anyone to your home that we would not have in our own.
Why choose Maid In Tysons?
We are a local, woman-owned, family-run business, bonded and insured to protect you, your property and our cleaning professionals, and accredited by the Better Business Bureau with an A+ rating. Our cleaners are interviewed in person, trained and background-checked, and they arrive with all the supplies needed. Every clean is backed by our 100% satisfaction guarantee.
What happens if something goes wrong during my appointment?
Tell us right away and we will put it right. That is the whole promise — call, text or message us and we will take care of it.
Is my billing information kept safe?
There are three layers of security. The booking page is protected by extended-validation SSL, the booking form carries its own 256-bit encryption, and all card transactions are processed by Stripe under their own 256-bit security. No card numbers are stored in our system at all — only a token that lets us charge the card.
Pricing & policies
How much will it cost?
We price by the number of bedrooms and bathrooms in your home. Select those on the booking form and your price appears instantly, before you book. Recurring visits — weekly, bi-weekly or monthly — are discounted against a one-time clean, and the discount is applied automatically.
How and when do I pay?
We accept credit and debit cards only. Your card details are taken when you book, but the card is not charged then. One day before your service we place an authorisation hold for the balance — a hold, not a charge. The card is charged only after the clean is complete, and an invoice is emailed to you. If the service is cancelled for any reason, the hold is released within two to five days.
What is your 100% satisfaction guarantee?
We are human and we may miss something. If we do, we will come back and re-clean the areas that were missed, free of charge, as long as you tell us within 24 hours. The guarantee depends on a walk-through inspection with your cleaning team at the end of the service — use our cleaning checklist as a guide, and anything you are not happy with is re-cleaned there and then. If the walk-through does not happen because you are not home or not available, the guarantee does not apply, and once it is complete the service is considered finished.
What is your refund policy?
If something was not done as promised, let us know within 24 hours and we will send a team to make it right within a 24-hour window. Before you book, it is worth checking the list of what each service includes — if you expect something to be cleaned and it is not clearly listed, call, text or message us first so expectations match on both sides.
What if I need to cancel or reschedule?
Being there when we say we will is important to us, and we reserve a time and a team for each customer. You have until 24 hours before your appointment to change or cancel it at no charge. Cancellations after that point are charged a $75 cancellation fee.
Your account
How do I log into my account?
Use the login link in the site menu and sign in with the email address you booked with. From there you can see upcoming appointments, reschedule, update your card and add notes for your cleaning team.
How do I change my credit card?
Log into your account and update the card on file. The new card is used for your next authorisation hold and charge. If you would rather not do it online, call or text us and we will send you a secure link.
How do I buy or redeem a gift card?
Gift cards can be bought from the gift cards page and are emailed to the recipient. To redeem one, enter the code at checkout when booking. Gift cards and discount codes cannot always be applied to an appointment that is already booked — if you need one added to an existing appointment, contact us and we will sort it out.
How do referrals and reward points work?
Refer someone to Maid In Tysons through your account and you earn reward points when they book. Points are held against your account and can be applied to future cleans. Log in to see your balance and your referral link.
